Parents and Young People
Angling Mentors offers parents and young people the chance to explore a variety of water‑based outdoor environments, providing meaningful opportunities to learn new skills that support relationships, social engagement, and personal development.
Our events are designed to be welcoming, inclusive, and enriching for families. Young people are guided by skilled volunteer mentors who give their time, experience, and encouragement to ensure every participant enjoys their time on the bank. Through hands‑on learning, they develop confidence, teamwork, and an understanding of the natural environments they interact with.
Parents are invited to be part of the journey too, strengthening connections and sharing experiences that extend beyond the water’s edge. Together, we help young people build a deeper appreciation for the outdoors, the importance of conservation, and the value of spending time in nature as a family and community.
Angling Mentors began in 2023, founded by a Design and Technology teacher at Jubilee School who saw a need for a different kind of learning environment. Many students were struggling to engage in the traditional classroom setting, and angling offered a calm, practical, and meaningful alternative. What started as a small initiative to support these young people soon grew into a wider community programme built on mentorship, outdoor learning, and personal development.Today, Angling Mentors continues to honour those roots — providing young people with opportunities to learn, grow, and connect through angling, supported by trained volunteer mentors who share a passion for both the sport and the wellbeing of the next generation.

By bringing generations together outdoors, we create opportunities for learning, confidence-building, and environmental awareness. Angling becomes a bridge — connecting people, strengthening communities, and inspiring young anglers to care for the natural world as much as they enjoy being a part of it.
Schools and Education
Angling Mentors works closely with schools, colleges, and the SEND education system to deliver angling as both an enrichment activity and a pathway to recognised qualifications. Our programmes support learning in a practical, engaging way, giving students hands‑on experiences that bring classroom subjects to life.
We embed Numeracy, Literacy, and Science into our sessions to show young people how these subjects connect to real‑world environments. From measuring distances and weights, to understanding aquatic habitats and reading water conditions, angling provides meaningful context that strengthens core learning.
We welcome enquiries from education providers for both group classes and one‑to‑one support. Whether a school is looking to enhance its curriculum, offer alternative provision, or create new outdoor learning opportunities, Angling Mentors is committed to delivering safe, structured, and inspiring sessions that help students grow academically, socially, and personally.
